A survival squad is a small, private group — family first, then trusted neighbors and friends — whose skills, gear and plans are documented in one place. Instead of every household duplicating the same supplies, a squad maps who has medical training, who has a generator, who runs radio, and where everyone meets if phones go down.

Who can see my profile, skills and gear?

By default, only you. Your inventory and plan details are visible to the squads you actually belong to. You appear in member search only if you switch on the discoverability toggle in your profile, and a squad appears in squad search only if its owner lists it publicly.

Does it work when the internet or power is down?

That is the point. Every squad can download an offline packet — meeting points, radio frequencies and channels, roles, contact trees and plan notes — as a plain file you can keep on a phone, laptop or printed in a go-bag. It reads with no signal and no account.

Where do the emergency alerts and weather come from?

Local conditions and active warnings are pulled from public National Weather Service data for the region your squad sets. Alerts supplement — never replace — official guidance from your local emergency management agency.

Do I need certifications to join?

Accepted Answer

No. Most members start with everyday skills — cooking on fire, basic first aid, tools, gardening, driving a truck. You can then log courses and certifications as you earn them, including training offered through Survival Squads.
